U&I Logistics - According to the Import-Export Tax Department (General Department of Customs), imported petroleum products in the first 9 months alone helped increase budget revenue by about VND 13,800 billion. Import volume and turnover of petroleum products in general also increased strongly compared to the same period last year, especially gasoline and jet fuel.
According to the latest statistics of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam has imported more than 290,000 tons of petroleum of all kinds, total import turnover reached 259.47 million USD in the first half of October. However, import results tended to decrease sharply compared to the second half of September 2022 (the second half of September was 406,819 tons, turnover was nearly 392 million USD).
However, according to the accumulation from the beginning of the year to October 15, the volume and turnover of petroleum imports still increased high compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, the whole country imported 6,805,424 tons of petroleum, with a turnover of nearly 7.1 billion USD, an increase of nearly 1.3 million tons (equivalent to 23.4%) and the turnover increased by 129.37% (equivalent to 23.4%). equivalent to an increase of nearly 4 billion USD) from the beginning of the year to October 15.
Among the main imported products in the petroleum group (including gasoline, diesel, mazut, jet fuel), diesel has the largest volume and turnover with 3,821,338 tons, with a turnover of nearly 4 billion USD.
However, gasoline and jet fuel are two items with notable high growth rates. Specifically, gasoline reached 1,322,900 tons, turnover was 1.454 billion USD, up 87.43% in volume (equivalent to 617,086 tons), while turnover increased by 221.2% (equivalent to 1 billion USD). Aviation fuel products reached 1,154,281 tons, with a turnover of $ 1.245 billion, up 131.7% in volume (equivalent to 656,037 tons), turnover increased by 340% (equivalent to $ 962 million).
Regarding the import market, Korea took the lead with 2,555,283 tons, with a turnover of 2.745 billion USD, up 91.62% in volume over the same period last year. The Korean market alone accounted for 39.16% of the country's total imported petroleum in the first nine months of the year.
Other major markets such as: Malaysia 956,148 tons, turnover of 885.67 million USD, however, it decreased sharply compared to the same period last year by 1.7 million tons; Singapore 960,508 tons, turnover of 978.7 million USD, quite similar in import volume compared to the same period in 2021; Thailand 877,870 tons, turnover of 960 million USD, an increase of nearly 100,000 tons compared to the same period last year.
Notably, in the first months of the year, China emerged as Vietnam's leading major petroleum import market with 627,123 tons, turnover of 676 million USD, 2 to 3 times higher in volume compared to the same period last year. equivalent increase of 130%); while the turnover is 4.42 times higher.
According to the General Department of Customs, petroleum is an essential commodity for production and consumption. Regarding customs procedures for imported petroleum, this group of goods is always done quickly, conveniently and in accordance with the provisions of law by the Customs.
In order to continue to facilitate and further shorten the clearance time and promptly put goods into circulation on the market, the General Department of Customs has issued Document No. 3642/TCHQ-GSQL on August 31, 2022 , direct the customs departments of provinces and cities to quickly clear customs for imported petroleum products.
At the same time, officials and civil servants are assigned to directly deal with issues related to customs procedures, inspection, supervision and handling of problems with imported petrol and oil including holidays, public holidays and outside office hours to ensure 24/7 customs clearance. At the same time, it is proactively grasping the actual situation, solving problems that arise, directing to strictly handle cases that cause troubles for businesses.
